The 3rd Congress of the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) was successfully held at the Party's HQ in the Liberated Area from 29th December 2009 to 2nd January 2010.

Before the Congress, an Army's conference was also held for 4 days attended by Chief of Staff, senior and junior commanders of the Arakan Liberation Army (ALA). The activities of the ALA for during the last Party's Congress were thoroughly discussed and reviewed in the conference.

The total of 72 delegates including 3 observers who were central leaders, cadres and senior commanders from Party's HQ; leaders and cadres from India and Bangladesh border-based attended the 3rd Congress. Furthermore, leaders and cadres from Thailand, Malaysia, European countries and the USA also participated in discussion by mail, over telephone and on the Internet.

In the Congress, implementation and activities of the last Party's congress term; present Rakhaing politics, Burmese politics and International situation were openly discussed and thoroughly analyzed.

In Burmese politics, the 2010 election which is to be held based on 2008 constitution of the Burmese military junta is absolutely opposed to the people's desire of entire nation in Burma. Besides, accepting the Border Guard Force by the Cease-fire groups seems to be eliminated themselves.

The future plans of the Party and the following important resolutions were laid down unanimously in the Congress.

1) To accelerate the organizing programs of the Party within and outside the country.

2) To oppose decisively to the 2010 election of Burmese military junta.

3) To continue utmost struggle to regain Sovereignty of Arakan which is the ultimate goal of the ALP by building more unity firmly within Party and Army.

4) To try to have friendly and good relationship with neighboring countries for the interest of the Party and Rakhaing revolution.

5) To stop unfair looting and selling of natural resources from Arakan by the Burmese military junta by cooperation with opposition groups and International community.

For implementation of above resolutions, the armed struggle will speedily be collaborated with mass movement. Moreover, we will struggle by cooperation with other oppressed revolutionary organizations and opposition groups.
